PC-4 Dual Opposed Shaft Qualifier
At its Technical Center in Clinton Township, Michigan, Kira
America Corporation today announces the introduction of its newest
product, the “PC-4 Dual Opposed Shaft Qualifier”.
The Kira PC-4 Dual Opposed Shaft Qualifier mills both ends of a
shaft, drills the centers and adds the chamfer, all automatically.
“Machining the ends of shafts to prepare them for downstream
processing is the most critical operation in shaft manufacturing”,
states Arnold Jones, President of Kira America Corporation.
“Everything downstream of the qualifier is dependent on the features
machined in the qualifying operation.”
Kira America has addressed this challenge by creating a CNC platform
which can be programmed to perform ends work on various length or
diameter shafts.
The Kira PC-4 Dual Opposed Shaft Qualifier insures the correct
relationship of the centers to each other and the relationship of
the outside diameter to the centers are correct.
The Kira PC-4 Dual Opposed Shaft Qualifier is extremely flexible and
can be equipped with “in process” data collection used to
automatically adjust the program to maintain the highest quality.
The current model can process shafts up to two 1 3/8 (35mm) in
diameter with lengths up to 34 1/2” (875mm).
A recent configuration of the new PC-4 Dual Opposed Shaft Qualifier
was delivered with an automatic magazine style parts feeder, an
internal overhead gantry part transfer system and a servo driven
exit conveyor. This configuration provides the capability for around
the clock, continuous unmanned operation.
Jones added, “Our customers have a need for a low cost, high
quality, flexible platform to qualify medium to high volume
precision shafts. The new small footprint Kira PC-4 Dual Opposed
Shaft Qualifier fills that need very nicely”.
